SafeTGard was founded by Dr. A.G. Jacobs, a dentist who out of concern for the high incidence of dental related sports injuries in his patients, invented the original “boil & bite” mouthguard for all contact sports. He then realized the many other protection needs of the athlete, and began developing and manufacturing more types of athletic protective gear. Dr. Jacobs son and daughter (who is a dentist) continued their father’s dedication to the protection of athlete’s.
In 2001, SafeTGard became a woman owned business when Sheila Gottsch expanded her lifetime career in the sporting goods industry.
